Allen's Shooting Stars ambush Gombe United

Shooting Stars return to the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium on Wednesday as they host Gombe United in the rescheduled week 2 match of the Nigerian Premier League.

This is the third straight home game the Oluyole Warrior will play this season having played host to Sharks FC of Porthacourt and Rising Stars of Akure.

The Festus Allen coached side will go for nothing other than the three maximum points at stake with last weekend disappointing draw at home to Rising Stars of Akure still fresh in their mind.

The team on Monday reflected on the weekend loss at the training with a strong resolve to forge ahead in their quest to pick a continental ticket at the end of the season.

Gombe United’s last visit to Ibadan ended in a draw in a match that saw Shooting Stars lost two penalty kicks on a wet Saturday at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium Ibadan. However, lots have changed since then with the arrival of new players in the team.

The Oluyole Warriors started brightly in their first match of the season at home to Sharks FC, a match they totally dominated.

Festus Allen is expected to stick with the same team that played goalless with Rising Stars with slight change expected in the attack where Osaguana Ighodaro who score in the first match may be given a chance to shine again while Talabi Olumakinde who has played as a substitute in the last two games may also play ahead of Ebitimi Aguogo who has not been impressive in the last two games.

Thomas Adesina has started the last two games but is yet to find the back of the net; he is likely to get the nod ahead of Lawrence Kadiri who replaced him in the game against Rising Stars of Akure.

The duo of Shope Hammed and Adigun Lateef are expected to pair up at the defence with Oyelade Oyeleke playing from the flank.

Victory in the match will take the Oluyole Warriors to 7 points from three games and will certainly be a morale boosting win ahead of their first away trip to Minna against Niger Tornadoes.

Ticket fans like in the recent practice will also have a chance to win great prizes in a raffle draw that will take place at the interval where great prizes will be up for grab.

Kick off time is 4.00pm
