Shooting Stars Coach, Festus Allen, admitted his team could be left counting the cost of failing to beat a resolute Gombe United side after Wednesday’s Premier League clash at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium ended goalless.

The Oluyole Warriors were unable to capitalise on their chance to close the gap on the league table.

Shooting Stars are now left with 5 points in three consecutive home matches and will travel to Minna to play against Niger Tornadoes.

Allen spoke with shootingstarssc.net shortly after watching his side drop two valuable points at home for the second straight game.

He said: “Bearing in mind Gombe United's run of form, you could say it is not a bad point but we have to start picking points now because clubs come out tougher everyday. If we’ve had won the match, we should be having 7 points and it will put things in different perspective as the league continues.

“We created valuable and enough opportunities to win the game, especially in the second half, but just could not find the back of the net,” he stated.

Speaking on his players, he said “The players really fought hard but we could not find it, either through spot kick or free kick."

Samuel Aaron and Owolabi Raheem failed to register goal today. Aaron had good chances in the first half while Owolabi hit the upright via Osagona's cross.

Allen believes goals will start coming from the strikers as expected.

“The strikers could not find the back of the net, but we are not just looking for that, we are looking for them to produce for the team's chances of moving forward.”

Shooting Stars captain Adigun Olamide Lateef went off injured at the 84 minutes shortly after Festus Allen effected his final substitution that left the team with 10-man for the last 6 minutes.
