Allen takes coaches power online

By Ojeikere Aikhoje

City of David United boss, Festus Allen, has entered the history books as the first Nigerian manager to leverage the power of the internet by establishing his personal webpage; www.festusallen.blogspot.com.

Since the onset of the online revolution, no Nigerian coach has been able to establish a presence on the internet.

Allen, who took newly promoted Bukola Babes to third position in the Nigeria Premier League during the first round of the league has confirmed his status as a 21st century manager.

"We've been working on this project and I'm excited that it's now ready," the COD gaffer told festusallen.blogspot.com

Before the dawn of the new media, players/coaches used to release exclusive pieces of information to friendly sports scribblers. The situation now is that they can use their homepages to promote their interest.

The traditional print and electroniic media actually like to use these online introductions as authentic sources of information. The adavantage is that information is distributed much faster.

His performance at Bukola Babes boosted his status and when he resigned due to poor treatment, COD United promptly offered him another opportunity to showcase his ability.
